Helping Students Feel Ready for School

Operation School Bell^® is Assistance League’s signature program nationwide. Here in Salem-Keizer, we partner with the Salem-Keizer School District and Chemawa Indian School to make sure students in need have new clothing and shoes—helping them feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn.

New Clothing & Shoes

Every student receives brand-new clothing and shoes selected for them. Our goal is simple: make sure students have what they need to come to school feeling their best.

Secondary Program

Middle and high school students are given the opportunity to shop at a local retailer for clothing and shoes that fit their needs, size, and personal style.

School Partnerships

School staff identify students who can benefit from Operation School Bell®. We work directly with our school partners to coordinate services and make the process easy and respectful for students and families.

Enhanced Support

Students enrolled in the McKinney-Vento program for children and youth experiencing homelessness may receive additional assistance, including a second clothing and shoe request, laundry vouchers, Subway vouchers, and grocery gift cards.
