Program Overview

R.E.A.D.™ helps put books into the hands of children throughout the Salem-Keizer community. Through partnerships with the City of Salem Library and Salem-Keizer School District, Assistance League Salem-Keizer volunteers help children discover the joy of reading and build a lifelong connection to books and learning.

Who We Serve

R.E.A.D.™ serves children throughout the Salem-Keizer School District, with an emphasis on reaching young readers who may have limited access to books at home.

Why It Matters

Every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joy of looking at, choosing, and reading books of their own. By increasing access to books, R.E.A.D.™ encourages children to read at home, strengthen their literacy skills, and develop confidence as readers.

How ALSK Makes It Happen

Assistance League Salem-Keizer members work with Salem Library to provide funds and volunteers to staff the Bookmobile. Our volunteers help turn community support into books that go directly into the hands of local children.
